I have debated back and forth about putting this out there. But, if it helps someone... i'm willing to TAKE ONE FOR THE TEAM.... so without further adieu.... WELCOME TO MY OTHER BLOG!!! I just made it public today.

The Roaring 1920's: The Charleston Era

In January, Joe said to me one evening... "Someone from church called today and wanted you to call them back." --then he paused-- "it's because she heard u danced????"  He looked at me funny and we both laughed.  I didn't have a  number to call so I waited a few days and sure enuf, she called again.  She told me she had to put on a skit in March that went thru the last hundred years or so and that she needed someone to dance the Charleston.  I tried to decline:  #1 i have never done the Charleston, #2 my life is very busy, #3 I wasn't going to be able to make any of the practices... and the list went on.  She looked at me and said she really really needed my help.  So with a deep breath and sigh, i agreed.  To be perfectly honest i didn't really even think of it again until the middle of February when i realized time was running out.  So i began to prep...I have watched every Charleston YouTube clip from dancing with the stars to "how-to" clips, and have studied the era and history until my eyes were bloodshot.  It felt like every night leading up to this event i spent dreaming of living in the 20's... i even think my dreams were in BLACK & WHITE. 

I'm a competitor and I enjoy performing it's just part of my genetic make-up.  I have performed in front of thousands and just about everything imaginable has happened to me while performing... so why was this one giving me such problems???  Honestly, I think it was mainly because it has been so long since I've been out of my comfort zone.  My mom was great, she was so encouraging.  After all, she has watched me practice from the time I was young for each new dance, play, competition that has come my way, and in true mom fashion she was there for me again with a txt that morning with words of encouragement and a big hug before I went on stage.  I love u mom!

Yesterday was the skit, and I think my family and myself are both excited to say... IT'S OVER!!  If my boys have to listen to the Charleston or watch me dance in the kitchen one more time they will head for the hills screaming!  My mom came and like any proud parent brought her camera and snapped pics as I performed.  I'll post those when she emails them to me.

 I heard something last week that I thought about as I was going thru this week: "Sometimes it's important to leave your COMFORT ZONE and enter the LEARNING ZONE." Looking back at this week I am very thankful for the chance to experience the high of performing once again.

we had another zumba 80's night! it was soooooo much fun!! the class was shoulder to shoulder packed!  It was a solid hour and a half of great 80's hits.

the pink converse completed the whole outfit.... but i thought i almost broke my toe dancing in them! finally, in the middle of teaching i had to take them off and reveal to the mass of ladies....YES, I WAS WEARING TWO DIFFERENT SOCKS!!!  i'd like to pretend it's the first time, but truth of the matter is ... it happens almost daily!!!!

 It's brite and early here (4am) and I'm sooo overdue on a blog post.

I have been blessed in my life with amazing friends!  I feel so fortunate because i began elementary school and into 7th grade with some pretty crummy friend experiences. I was just about ready to throw in the towel and say FRIENDS ARE OVER-RATED... Good thing i waited a bit longer and gave it one more chance.

 I have wonderful people all over the world that i have been blessed to know, but i have buddies--here in the present, that i see almost every day and text all day long and that make me smile even as i type this out. 

Our super de duper hubby's watched our children so we could have a 4 day girls trip to Disney and universal down in orlando...(I know, my home away from home).  We ran the buzz and woody best friend 5k... there couldn't of been a more appropriate name given for this event!  Next year we are doing the half!  I came in @ 31min. Considering the race was PACKED and i felt like i was running more sideways and not forward... I'LL TAKE IT!

mia doesn't like spin rides so kimbo and i took the teacups for the fastest trip that saucer had ever seen!  we were flying!!! we were spinning so fast that mia had to turn away from watching us or she was going to get sick!                                                      this was our dizzy aftermath!

we only had one day to do disney, so we hit all 4 parks in 12 hrs....good thing we are all such disney experts!

this is us at Hogwarts!  I LOVE harry potter and had such a great time at islands of adventure.  The new hp ride was amazing and NOTHING like i expected!

We stretched out our seat belts and kept a lot of slack so when we dropped on tower we levitated off the seat!-- yes, i am almost 30 yrs. old and still like to live like a teenager, AND........

Zumba Girls Night

As most of you know i am a fitness instructor at a local gym.  I LOVE IT!!  I get paid to work out... can't get any better than that!  Currently i teach Zumba a few times a week and sub for others when they need it.  A few times a month I try and have zumba ladies night out with a theme.  One theme last month was Pajama Party, Next Month is a house divided (wear your favorite team colors) and last weekend was 80'S NIGHT!  What a hoot!  The class lasts an hour and a half.  We began with lots of fun picture taking.  I love my friends and they did not disappoint this night!  Here are some pictures of the fun night!

We warmed up to 'SHE'S A MANIAC"... we broke it down just like on the movie... HILARIOUS!

here we are doing an ab song... yes, i am wearing pink converse, yes, they hurt the whole time, and yes, they gave me blisters... was it worth it.... YES! pain is beauty people!

Oh, and a side note.... leg warmers really do make your legs warm... i was hot hot hot!

We also threw in some old school mikey j to keep with our theme... all i needed was my red leather jacket and a white glove... hmmmm, maybe that will be my next party idea... JACKSON NIGHT!

we are finally moving into our new home! Words cannot express the excitement I have to be back closer to civilization near my friends, near a walmart, near a paved driveway I can walk on before I get into my vehicle on Sunday mornings so my heels don't sink into red clay or wet dewy grass.... and much more. I will post some pictures of the house almost complete on the inside and more once I am done un-packing boxes.

I have so much to blog about that I am going to go backwards... Today I am going to post about joe and my date night right smack dab in the middle of the week! He and I went to see Harry Potter at midnight Tuesday night/Wednesday morning with our date buddies Jason and Maria... TOO FUN!!! We showed up to the theater by 9:15 that night afraid the line would be bad. Luckily for us we were one of the first. When we realized there was only one small group already there, we felt more like LOSERS than winners... (nothing better to do than go stand in line almost 3 hrs before show-time...lol) We were pleased to see that we weren't the only group of "no social lifers", Oddly enuf as we got closer we realized we knew the first group of 7..... =) It made for a great laugh when we all got together.... We were in the first theater opening and were allowed to sit while the craziness unfolded outside...As we filled into our theater we realized when knew almost half the audience.... We laughed, and hung out for the next couple of hours which helped time fly and keep us awake....

I only began reading Harry Potter in the last month and am almost done with the 2nd Book. I haven't been able to read as much as I would like with the moving, but after seeing the 6th movie It has given me the motivation to read faster, because I have so many questions. The Movie was good, but JK Rowling is such a detailed and creative author that you just can't put it all into a movie. Like twilight, I try and appreciate the movie for what it is and nothing more, otherwise I would always be very disappointed.

midnight twilight showing

I realize I am very late posting, but my life has been turned upside down with my house getting renovated and moving into joe's parents guest house. Almost two weeks ago some of my girlfriends made plans to go to the midnight showing of twilight. I hadn't read the books like most of them but didn't want to miss out on girl time. (a much needed luxury that I don't get to do much) The great thing about doing something at midnight is that you don't have to coordinate babysitters, snacks, naps or other lists of things to do with baby while mommy is gone. BECAUSE EVERYONE IS SLEEPING! I can do without some sleep... i rarely do it anyway.

So once my boys were tucked in and hubby had visions of sugar plumz dancing in his head, I took off for the night. We met at target to find jammies... COMFORT IS ALWAYS PRIORITY UNO WHEN DEALING WITH MIDNIGHT SHOWINGS!




We were at the theater by 1030 and had hours to kill.. Maria brought her camera so we started shooting pictures! Hey, what can i say... we can still be giddy high school girls at heart....



WE EVEN HAD SOME KIDS BEHIND US THINK WE WERE 18... THE COMPLIMENT OF THE YEAR!!



We had a great time and I decided it was time to join the ranks and begin reading the books.... I read the first and second book saturday and sunady and took a break for thanksgiving... I went to purchase the third book friday night and barnes and noble sold 3000 copies since that morning... CRAZY!! So my good friend was nice enuf to lone me the last two... (thanks kimberly!!)
